Roach happy with the progress Pacquiao making

Manny Pacquiao and his trainer, Freddie Roach, are happy with the progress he is making as he continues training at the Wild Card Gym for his December 8 battle (Pacquiao vs Marquez 4) against rival Juan Manuel Marquez.

“Maganda na ang ikinikilos ko ngayon after a week at Wild Card,” Pacquiao said in a PhilBoxing interview. “Freddie and myself as well as other members of my team are happy with the progress of the camp.”

Pacquiao has reportedly been flashing his vintage form in training camp, even forcing Roach to quit after 13 rounds on the mitts last November 5.

“I did 13 rounds on the mitts with Freddie Roach today. I wanted to do more but he said I wore him out! Fun day at the Wild Card,” Pacquiao tweeted. » Read more..

Donaire vs Arce on December 15

Well it seems that we will going to see Nonito Donaire in action once again this year. The super bantamweight bout between Filipino champion Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce will push through as planned, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said.

The veteran promoter told Philboxing’s Ronnie Nathanielsz that the disagreement between the 2 boxers has been threshed out.

“It’s a done deal,” Arum was quoted as saying.

Arum said the Donaire vs Arce fight will take place on December 15.

But instead of holding the 12-round tiff at Arce’s territory in Mexico City as earlier announced, the fight will be moved to the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. » Read more..

Pacquiao and Marquez invades the Big Apple again

The Edison Ballroom in Times Square played host to boxing rivals, Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez New York City press tour of their upcoming bout on December 8, 2012.

The two fighters will engaged on what is to be their fourth and final fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV in three months’ time.

Both fighters figured in three hotly contested and exciting fights with each result as debatable and unclear as the previous one before that. Marquez and Pacquiao drew their initial meeting, split their second one in 2008 and last November, Pacquiao was awarded a close and questionable Majority Decision nod in the same venue of this year’s fight. » Read more..

The fight between WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-0-1, 32 KOs) and WBC “Diamond” champion Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KOs) on September 15. A year’s worth of verbal jabbing by Martinez has gotten under Team Chavez’s skin. Fernando Beltran, co-promoter of Chavez, took aim at both Sergio and his advisor, the loquacious Sampson Lewkowicz. “A few months ago I said on the radio that Sergio is a clown. I would like to confirm that today,” said Beltran while staring menacingly in the direction of Martinez’s team. That didn’t sit well with Sampson, who stood up and made a motion toward Beltran as if he was going to let his fists do the talking. Junior, not to be outdone, added his two cents.
